Did you search other threads to insight to your questions first? You will find that many threads address the question of internationals applying to boarding school which always leads to the question: do you need FA? This will have an effect on you chances of getting in in many cases.

As far as your question about what score to strive for, what feedback are you looking for? The answer is, of course, to strive to do your very best. You have some very selective schools on your list. Many applicants to these schools will have scores in the 80-99% range.

Also to stimulate a more helpful response to your questions from people on this forum, you should probably provide at least some insight as to why you want to apply as a repeat junior as the limited number of slots makes them very competitive.

I want to apply as a repeat junior because I am now a junior and to meet the graduation requirement i should stay for at least 2 years. Besides that, I want to explore the school. With one year, I think i don’t have enough time to know thoroughly about the school.

I know i have to try my best. But i am looking for a specific score like 2000 on SAT for example. ?

Why don’t you go to SSAT.org to learn about the SSAT?
You’ve been told in another thread to check out boardingschoolreview.com where you will find a range of scores for their accepted students.
That you “want to explore the school” thoroughly is not much of a reason for a school to give you a highly competitive junior year slot and significant aid.
You need to find a way to contact the schools. Kids from all over the world do, you can too.

Good luck.

I think the real key is whether or not you are looking for FA as an international student. Most of the schools are not need blind and FA for an international student can be very hard to find. It is also more difficult to be admitted as a junior than as a freshman. If you will need FA, you should consider schools where you will be one of the top applicants.
The SSAT is just one component of the admission process.
Good luck!

Actually, I need a big amount of FA. Is there any need blind school ?

Search the forums for the term “need blind.” You will see that there has been much discussion on the topic and the answers vary. Some believe there are no true need blind boarding schools. Others will say the schools with the largest endowments (Andover and Deerfield on your list) are the most likely to provide the best aid. Now, before you ask which schools have the largest endowment, why don’t you check the websites of the schools you are interested in-most post their endowment. For more specific information, you should contact the school.

Don’t mean to sound abrupt, but at the pace you are going gathering your information to get the application process started, you may need to look at schools with rolling admissions.

Whoa, Brighty, applications are due in January! Let’s give nns91 a chance to explore options! This board has always been supportive of new posters finding their way. Let’s keep it that way, please.

I am being very supportive and very honest. nns91 began asking similar questions back in August. Three months until January deadlines is not a lot of time if the OP has difficulty getting the application materials (which was indicated in another thread), to fill out financial applications, gather recommendations, schedule visits and interviews, and take SSAT, if needed.

nns91, please look into the application deadlines of the schools you are interested in and assess whether or not it is feasible for you to put everything together.

Like I stated, I didn’t mean to sound abrubt but understanding the timeline for fall 2008 admission is very important.

I know all the deadline. Actually, I have just started because I have just finished my soccer season.

Could you please answer me for one more time ? I just need to confirm my list again. I am doing the application of The Masters and Peddie and waiting for the forms of Andover( my parents is sending it from Vietnam, I am now in the US as an exchange student) and Deerfield

This is the advice that was given by an educational consultant who used to post on this board:

"I’m an educational consultant and I work with Asian families applying for boarding schools. I can give you a little bit of information that you might not find anywhere.

Boarding schools have limited visas and also try to keep the % of students from any one country to a certain low number, like 5%. For example, Williston has room for 1 Korean boy and 1 Korean girl in 9th grade and they will receive about 200 applications for those spots. That is a very tiny acceptance rate! There aren’t as many applicants from Vietnam, but there are still a lot, so the acceptance rates are much lower for Asian students. My advice to you is that if you really want to come to the US apply to a few schools which are not as selective in admissions. It also helps to apply to schools outside of the Mass-CT area, since this is most popular with international students. ANd finally, be sure to visit the campus in person rather than doing a phone interview.

If you come to the US for visits, apply to a diversity of schools, you will probably get accepted somewhere. Good luck!"

You might research a few more schools that are not in New England.
