Help choosing undergrad b-program? MIT v. UVA v. Emory...

Hi! I'm a rising college freshman and I have been accepted to a number of different undergrad business programs and I'm having a really hard time picking one. I would love some input, particular pros and cons of the programs (I have researched most of them but they all seem so good), etc. I'm currently leaning towards majoring in marketing or international business but I am definitely looking to try out finance and accounting as well to see how those would fit with me.

Schools of comparison (business school):
1. MIT (Sloan)
2. UVA (McIntyre)
3. Emory (Goizueta)
4. Univ. of Michigan (Ross - preadmit)
5. Georgetown (McDonough)

Go to MIT.

All else equal, go to MIT. If the tuition price is radically more expensive than the other options, then you may have a tougher choice. All are great business schools.

Thank you for the input! Financially, all of the schools have offered me equally generous aid, so it would cost around the same to go to any of the 5 schools. Both of you suggested MIT…could you elaborate on what sets Sloan above all the other programs, besides MIT’s name value? Also, do you think that it would at all be to my disadvantage that MIT is such an engineering-focused school? It seems to me that students studying business at MIT is really a minority.

MIT being an engineering-oriented school works in your advantage. From everything I have read and heard, MIT Sloan’s level of analytical rigor is far above almost every other business program out there. The world has continually moved in the more analytical direction, so going to MIT would give you an advantage over pretty much every business student out there.

thank you! I have just 3 more days to decide and I’m heavily leaning towards MIT! Any more takers/inputs?

Honesty, all schools you mentioned are incredible. Since Ross is preadmit, I’d put that school aside, just to be safe you know.

I’d go to Sloan too. Amazing school, location, and program.

Michigan is very strong in marketing.
