Help choosing

I have been accepted at a number of schools that I want to go to, and I really need help gaining some outside opinions to help make a decision. I have been accepted at NYUPoly (soon to be just NYU) CalPoly SLO, RIT, and Swansea University in the UK. I have spent hours looking up each school, and I have enough money saved up to attend any if them, (except NYUPoly, if I don't get good financial aid). I applied as an electrical engineering student to all of them. I was wondering what people's opinions were of the schools (not just for the major, but also for the student life and the surrounding area). Please help, any extra information is appreciated, especially from alumni!

We found the off-campus housing expense too much for us for SLO, and travel difficulty. If you are not in CA, look at that very closely. Have you visited? - what a gorgeous area - but at a high cost.

I do live in CA, so it’s pretty easy for me to get to SLO, I was a bit worried about the housing cost, but based on the prices that a few of my friends are paying who are there I think I will be able to cover it. I have visited all if the campuses except for Swansea University (which I can’t really afford to visit right now). But I agree that I will have to closely consider the spike in housing after the first year and the potential spike in tuition from budget cuts.

You live in CA  Then SLO is a wonderful option, and you will know more re: SLO than I. I can understand the desire to explore new areas too in NY. You will have to know yourself & the affect of weather. Rochester can be very gloomy -weather, and how’s the economy?

Rochester can be very gloomy indeed

If you are planning to work in Silicon Valley in the tech business after undergraduate, you should stay in the US for undergrad. It will make your post-grad job search a LOT easier.

In that case, either NYU or Cal Poly. UK has suffered a very serious cuts in education funding as well. So be aware of that.

NYU’s housing cost can be quite substantial too, given its location in East Village. Be sure to take that into account.
