i have a question i am a kind of new in college and i would like to explain it like this just to see if i got it right, major are the firsts two year of you career where you gotta take all those courses that are not even related to your major, and minor is the further courses you take after those two first years ? making a total of 4 years (bachelor's degree) IS THAT RIGHT ?

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HONEST ANSWER.
THANK YOU!

Not at all, your major is what you get your degree in (Bachelor of Arts/Science, etc). During your first two years, you can take general electives that do not have to do with your major but many students take major related classes as well.

A minor is an additional subject you are learning only to a lesser extent than your major. Most minors are around 7 classes. Minors are not required to graduate.

Does that make sense? Feel free to ask a follow up question if you’re still confused.

No, not even close! Where did you get the idea that a major was only your first two years of college? You spend ALL four years taking courses (lower division and upper division) for your major so that you can get a degree–the first two years is just supplemented by general education courses. A minor is a secondary field that a student can choose to specialize in while working on their major; it is NOT required, and many students graduate college without a minor. For example, I am majoring in Animal Science and planning on minoring in Music. The two disciplines are completely different from each other.
