Ok, so I'm freaking out right now, because my parents, in their usual uncompromising asian way, said my essay FAILED and I have to START OVER FROM SCRATCH. And of course, I'm applying early to 2 schools, so I'm pretty much screwed......

After looking over cc, I don't know if it's the cliche asian immigration essay everyone hates on. Please please please look it over and tell me if I need to think of a new topic. I worked really hard on this essay and really liked it before I totally got killed by parents, so now I have zero confidence in it. Help me out?

hey..i'm an asian immigrant too. I'll look at your essay. Don't worry i'm applying early and i decided that two days ago. GASP

When did u immigrate to the US? cuz that matters a lot... I'm also an Asian immigrant ... check my posts for verification. And no I won't copy off you
PM me if you want an opinion...but if u choose not to, I want to advise you that nothing is cliche as long as you have your take on it. Trust in yourself

Asian parents...I know how you feel. But I think immigration essays are cliche and since so many people write them, yours might be unconsciously compared to others'. Going along with what wlai said, did you immigrate recently? On what magnitude has it affected your life? And what are you doing right now to overcome/change things?

Oh, and have you asked your parents what exactly they disliked about the essay in the first place? They might be able to give you some advice on how to improve it, approach the subject from a different angle, etc.
