hey guys, heres my college list, can you guys tell me what you think, i have a 3.2 gpa throughout highschool besides senior year, and a best overall SAT superscore of 1850
700 math
580 reading
570 writing

heres the list , anything missing? should i add a safety or another reach for my grades

rutgers
tcnj
ramapo
montclair
suny binghamton
suny stoney brook
penn state
U mass ( my favorite )
University of Delaware

I would guess you are from NJ. Can you afford your OOS options? Why would you add another reach for your grades? Bing, Penn State, UMass, and UDel are all big reaches due to your grades. I would think Montclair and Ramapo are pretty good options.

I would add at least another safety. I’m not sure Ramapo could be considered a safety and most of the others are match-high match-reach. Which U Mass campus are you considering?

i think you are good for ramapo, and most certainly montclair. i think you will have solid results with your list. tcnj will be much more difficult though - it got so competitive in recent years. i think you have a solid shot for your number one choice, umass.

my must get in is rutgers, my mom wants me to go there, its close, education is great, its a must, and the umass i want to get into is amherst, and i dont enjoy thinking of it as a safety, who wants to go to a safety school ? lol, i think i will hopefully get into 4 of those colleges

hmm true, since you guys are talking about adding so many safety schools, are you implying that you think i will not get into my top 4 which go in order of rutgers, umass, tcnj, udel ?

I would be very surprised if you were not admitted to SUNY Binghamton (harpur) based on this year’s admission results for OOS and specifically NJ…not as confident about your other top 4, especially the last 3…

christian, I think that TCNJ is a reach school, but you should definitely apply there.

The others are match to high match schools IMO. Nobody has a crystal ball to know for sure. I would make sure that I had good options just in case. BTW, Rutgers could say no to NB and offer Newark or Camden. I don’t know if UMass does this too (offering another campus to you). BTW, Penn State also offers other campuses.

None of us can say for sure what will happen in the next admissions cycle. There have been some bizarre results lately! It’s possible you could get into all 4 of those. It’s also possible you could be rejected from all 4. Your math SAT score is great. The gpa could be problematic, but it’s hard to say.

northeastmom is right - apply to all of those on your list, but look for a couple of additional schools as safeties. Do you know what your class rank is?

christian, unfortunately, I do not know much about pharmacy schools.

Affordable depends upon your family’s EFC. If your EFC (a number given after completing the fafsa that government thinks that your family can pay through current income, savings, and borrowing) is over 30,000 then NJ public schools (I assume that your are instate for NJ) should be affordable (discuss the sticker price cost with your parents very soon). If your EFC is under 10,000, you might be better off also applying some private colleges (I would look outside the NE for what might be better results and a lower sticker price to begin with). If none of the schools are affordable, then consider community college for 2 years, stay very focued and then transfer.

I know that the University of Rhode Island has a very good pharmacy program. I do not know if it is harder to gain admission to their pharmacy program than to the rest of school. I think it is a match for you. It may cost more than the Sunys. I don’t know, so check it out. Just another school to check into.

my parents can afford 30,000 a year, its just that i dont want them paying that, i feel bad
and knowing the economy now, i feel that pharmacy would be the best option, and the northeast is a must, my mom said she wants me close to home

ramapo and mountclair do not have pharmacy school. so, why you choose them? I am not sure this is a safety, but how about Univ. of Maryland-Baltimore? cannot think of a pharmacy school other than rutgers in NJ and I lived there for 25 yrs.

well maryland is too high of a school for me, that would be a big reach. and ramapo and montclair are my safeties, i wouldnt really want to be attending them, thats why i hate the word safety school. anyway, rutgers is deff my top choice

i am not saying UM-CP, but UMB. UMB has a lower rating than Rutgers on the Princeton Review whereas Univ of Deleware and UMASS have higher rating than Rutgers.

oh okayy, and besides that school, would you have any idea on a school besides penn state, its a nice school , its just that the price tag is a little bit too high 37+, any ideas on a school at that level but a lower tag
