Help College List

Hey I was wondering if you guys could give me schools that fit my list

  • Want to go to school with board and food for under 35,000$ per year
-From Connecticut, want to be from 1 hour- 8 hours away
  • My Stats are 3.4 UW 3.6-3.7W 1240 SAT 6 Honors 3 AP/college courses by end of High school, 200 + Community service, NHS, President of a Club, was in 2 clubs and more…
  • Want a school with 18,000+
    -Is not a commuter school
  • Undecided Major probably

If you could give me a list of schools that you guys think I would get in with money to be under my budget that would be fantastic

Thank you so much

You have somewhat similar stats as my daughter, also a junior in CT. She is the opposite of you though, doesn’t want a large school. The first one that popped into my mind was Binghamton. The SUNY schools even out of state are pretty reasonable. You could also check UMass Amherst. My daughter actually like that and it’s still on her list, though I think she’ll take it off. Check out other SUNY schools as well, maybe Buffalo? I’m sure more people will chime in with additional ideas.

thank you this was very helpful do you feel UMASS would be under 35k with food and dorm @taverngirl

Virginia Tech is a strong choice, but a little pricier than your budget

My guess is that SUNY is going to become very competitive, very fast since it’s now tuition free for NY residents. … and Binghamton has always been pretty competitive.

UMass would be higher with room & board, not sure if you’re eligible for any FA? Have you run the net price calculators on any schools yet? UMaine isn’t as big as you are looking for, but you can go for the same price as UConn; they have a special program for this. I’d retake those SATs and/or take ACTs as well. If you can bring those up a little I think you’d be good for most of the SUNY schools. Stony Brook is another big one.

@taverngirl thank you, UMASS and Penn State are my top, I wont be eligible for FA but only scholarships…

Costs depend on either or both of test scores (prep and retake) and family income (how much does your family make, roughly?)

You must run the NPC on every college since each calculates differently.

Right now, if you can be flexible on college size, you’d qualify financially and academically for St Michael’s, UScranton, Wheaton (MA), Hobart&William Smith, Ithaca.
Perhaps Syracuse, American, Trinity University.

You have all the Connecticut public universities obviously :).

Look into Temple, UDel, U Maine, U Southern Maine, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Albany, SUNY Buffalo (esp. for science), Towson.

West Virginia University…it’s pretty cheap to begin with, & it looks like u would qualify for a $6000 per year scholarship based on your GPA & SAT. That’s going to be tough to beat within 8 hrs from Connecticut.

@MYOS1634 I know you said I have all Connecticut but do you think I got Uconn Main campus in the bag lol…? Thank you so much for the help and the list…
