Hi! Right now I am in the the college of L&S but I really
want to transfer into the college of chem. Most
of the science major in L&S aren't as science-y
for me. I know that there is a chem major in here,
but it is directed more towards people who want to
teach.

What is around the minimum GPA they consider when
looking at people who petition to change departments?
Mine's not so high right now. =( What to do?

I know I can try other semesters, but
I know my grade will go down further right
after the horrors of physics to come.

If you are so scare of physics, why bother to be a chem major or any science major

Are you a freshman or a sophomore? How bad is “not so hot”?

There are NO SET REQUIREMENTS for a transfer to the CoC from L&S, but I’d say that most freshmen who transfer after their first semester have an A or B in Chem 4A (1A in a few cases), A or B in Physics 7A, A or B in a math class (1A,1B,53,or 54), and at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

If you’re a sophomore, it’s a little tricky because they have to take into account whether you are “on track” to graduate on time (whether you are “on track” is really important to the CoC). So if you’re in your 3rd semester, hopefully you’ve taken two semesters of general chem and one semester of o-chem or one semester of general chem and two semesters of o-chem. In addition, it would be helpful to have taken some physics and math.

It’s pretty damn easy to transfer in. Just make sure to take Chem 4B or 15 to meet the analytical chem requirement.
