<p>Faking (just not doing as well on nuerologist’s standardized testing as they could) an LD is not uncommon. Several student per HS often try not to do well on a neurologist’s standardized testing which they take in enough time to get extra time for the SAT before college submissions. Their pusuit of an LD label is often instigated by parents truly wanting their children to succeed as we all do, and perhaps believing that a LD must truly exist if their children are not performing up to their expectations. Unfortunately, this puts the kids with true learning disabilities at a severe disadvantage when they need extra time and don’t get it. This whole scenerio frustrates me, especially as one who works with children who have learning disabilities and therefore need the extra time for compensatory reasons.</p>
