can we submit the common application and a school's supplement online but submit the teacher recommendations via mail?

I have some extra curriculars that doesn't fit within the 7 allotted space. I could attach some new information but I have a science research paper that I did during my research in a university. Should i submit the research paper instead of extra curriculars, or should i cross my fingers and hope that all my schools will allow me to get interviews?

I don’t think it’s a good idea to attach the research paper itself. The adcoms don’t have enough time to read it anyway. You will just waste your chance to tell them something more about you. My advice is to elaborate on your ECs and why not mention this research somewhere between them

Good luck!

To answer your first question, you and your counselor/teachers do not have to follow the same process. They can send by mail even if you apply online.
