The three schools are all in the list of Public Ivies
I wonder whether there are marked difference among the three
Thanks

i'm sure the students will answer you, but in my humble, parental opinion, they will vary based on their own personalities. very similar academically, hence public ivies. i believe UNC and UVA are most stringent about OOSers. weather extremely different between UMich and the southern two, and is much larger, as well. also, not knowing what you plan on studying, the actual programs/majors at the schools may make a difference.

I'm from NC. And though, accepted to UNC with a sweet scholarship, Honor's program and such>>I really didn't ever seriously consider it because EVERYONE in my world that I knew got accepted to UNC. It was my high school (actually kindergarten, elementary, jr. high) all over again. No thank you. People who go to UNC love it though and are fans for life. I've heard it said that the academics are similar to UVA, I can't comment too much on that, having not experienced it. Pretty campus, doesn't rival UVA, IMHO. Franklin St. seems fun.

I never considered U of M. Too far away, too cold, ridiculously large. Often referred to as a diploma factory by some authors who write how-to-get-into college books. A2 is a cool town, from what I hear. I visited the campus once, on a family trip; it was ok I guess. Didn't knock me out. But no, didn't apply.

UVA is gorgeous, historical, mountainous>> though I'm a sucker for the beauty and history of a school's campus (Mr. Jefferson's Grounds, in UVA's case). The school is top of the line. Very diverse, admits many more OOS students than UNC, ~33% to ~18%, respectively. I love the traditions that exist at UVA>>girls in pearls, guys in ties at FB games, the Lawn, The Corner. It's been wonderful to experience undergraduate life here. Maybe, I'll have the opportunity to consider UNC for graduate life. ;)
This is just my take on things. Sorry in advance if I stepped on anyone's toes.
