I've been looking to apply to Rose-Hulman, UIUC, and IIT, and I'm constantly getting confused over which is preferable. I know rankings are often wrong, but UIUC's engineering program was ranked 5th, while Rose-Hulman's was first for schools giving bachelor/masters as highest degree. Meanwhile, IIT has been said to be a very strong engineering college.

So, my question is, which is better for undergraduates? I know that's not the best way to put it, but bear with me.

Also, if it helps, I'm looking to go into computer engineering, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering.

UIUC is the best by far.

I applied to RHIT because I think they have the best undergraduate teaching. Student retention is really important to them so they try to make sure everyone succeeds. And, they have great career services.

Both Rose Hulman and UIUC will provide fantastic undergrad engineering educations (not as familiar with IIT). I think you need to weigh some other factors that only matter to you, such as out-of-pocket cost differences, social settings, learning environments, etc. No right or wrong choice here…visit, get accepted, weigh your financial aid options and then decide.

UIUC is most popular in those engineering concentrations, IIT has a better grad program in those concentrations and RHIT has a very good small class ratio.
