So I submitted my applications for nine schools back at the end of December, and so far I've heard back from all of them EXCEPT Georgetown, NYU, and Northwestern. Is this normal? Should they have sent me something in the mail/email? Has anyone received any confirmation from any of these schools? I'm in need of some reassuring here.

You will have all of the college's decisions by April 1st

Yeah I know that much, but I'm just concerned as to whether I should have received some sort of "Oh hey, thanks for sending in your app, get psyched to hear in April!"

Check out this board

WCARLEY09 - Just out of curiosity. The 3 schools you have not yet heard from, were they keeping contact with you during the application process?

Yeah, in fact I interviewed for Georgetown and NYU started sending me brochures after my app was in. The only school I've heard absolutely nothing from is NW.

I don't understand the process, but my daughter is in the same situation than you. She applied to 3 private colleges. During the application process (prior January 15 deadline), she received tons of reminders from these colleges to submit her applications on time, brochures, applications for scholarships, etc... making her feel like she was wanted(that is how she interpreted it, anyway). As soon as the deadline arrived, we never heard from those schools again. When she phoned, she must leave a message and she never hear from them. I am wondering why it is so important for you to apply and than, they ignore you. I guess she'll hear sometimes in April

Once the schools get all of the information they need from everyone and are finished reminding people, they are too busy going through applications and deciding everything. They don't have enough time to get back to everyone right away and check in with everyone. The college has what they need and will contact you more after all of the decisions are send (if you make it).

my D applied to Georgetown, got an interview in Dec and since then...... NOTHING! The same with JHU, just got a post card telling her they received the application, and that's it!!!!!!

Perhaps, but I believe it is more about numbers. Once an application is completed, the student become 1 of those who applied as far as statistic for the school goes. My daughter is waiting, while her younger sister (HS sophomore) is receiving glossy brochures from the very same colleges the other one has yet to hear from. Anyway, I don't mean to say that the school should keep contact with an applicant, but a card saying that the application is complete would be nice.

"just got a post card telling her they received the application, and that's it!!!!!!"

Read my last post....it is because they are busy going through thousands of applications and have everything they need from you.

"but a card saying that the application is complete would be nice."

usually you get notified when your application is fully complete, either a card or online, if you haven't you may want to call.

ReachForDreams - You got that one right, "...have everything they need from you." :)

You seem to know about the process. I have a question - Do the administrative staff review applications as well?

"You seem to know about the process. I have a question - Do the administrative staff review applications as well?"

Haha it is funny you said that because I feel like I know nothing compared to most people on CC. Most questions I answer seem logical to me :)

Sorry but I do not know the answer to your question. :(

Northwestern is too "poor" compared to the other Ivy league schools to give you an electronic account to tell you everything is completed. It's the norm for NU to not contact applicants UNLESS they are missing something.

Also, as an Gtown EA admit, I'll tell you they did not contact me once until I received that acceptance letter on Dec. 15th. Don't sweat it. If they haven't contacted you, it means that they have everything.

I emailed Northwestern to w/draw an application in process and NW promptly emailed me back to say tthanks and they would hold the file for one year.

BTW...NW is not an Ivy.

Yes, it is not. My grammar was a bit misleading.
