Help!: Dance in College

Hello everyone,

I am not sure if anyone can help but I am an A's/some B's senior at a private high school (3 AP's this year) and I can't decide how much dance I should/could incorporate into my collegiate experience. Ideally I would like to double major in dance and another subject (undecided, but definitely academic). I started dance when I was four, and I was trained at the Nutmeg Conservatory/Nutmeg Ballet through 7th grade, but had to quit for family reasons. I started at a local studio and I now take dance at my school in addition. It definitely is not as rigorous as Nutmeg, but I have still improved and have been exposed to new dance styles (10hrs/wk). I also plan to start at Hartt this year (16hrs/wk). Right now I am most comfortable with & passionate about ballet/modern/contemporary.

The problem is that I have had a difficult time finding really good colleges with really good dance programs. I am currently looking at GW, Skidmore, Bates (despite them being somewhat "safety schools" for me academically). Are there any other places I am overlooking? I can't decide if I should do the clich

I forgot to mention that I am also looking at Barnard - I kind of wanted coed (because I currently go to an all girls school) but they say some of their classes are coed (w/Columbia). I have other academic schools on my list but I would really like to major in dance…
