I originally posted yesterday...thought I should add more today, but for some reason my old account wasn't working so I had to use my brothers old one.

I narrowed my choices down to rutgers, tcnj, and udel. I'm down to the wire and can't decide between the three. I want to study civil engineering, although it could change. My brother is a business major at udel and loves it. I really like the campus and dorms at udel and my brother has said good things about the professors. TCNJ is also a great campus, but much smaller, meaning more facetime with professors (but my brother says he never has problems meeting with professors at udel). Rutgers of course is huge and has no real central campus.

Does anyone have an opinion on which school as the best reputation for engineering and the best opportunities for research etc.? Overall, which do you think will provide the best experience? By the way, all three colleges would be about the same price for me because I got $7,000 from udel and $2,000 at Rutgers. Also, I got into the Honors College at Rutgers.

ANY INPUT AT ALL WOULD BE WELCOME

Tom, I think UD and Rutgers are fairly comparable, so if you were choosing between these two, I would say to go with the campus you preferred. My son is a freshman mechanical engineering major and he has good contact with his professors. He got an undergraduate research assistant position this year and he also has an internship lined up for the summer. Career Services was instrumental in his obtaining this position. He has friends at Rutgers and Duke in the same major and their assignments are all very similar.

As far as TCNJ is concerned, it is also a very good school. I don't know much about their engineering program, though.

Although all 3 universities are comparable when it comes to education, the campuses are extremely different. I go to UD where it's medium-sized, absolutely gorgeous and a "real" campus. The students aren't very diverse. I have many friends at Rutgers and visit all the time and I know it's very big and spread out, and there's a lot of diversity on campus. I'm not too familiar with TCNJ but I know it's a very "dry" campus. The 1st two are pretty big party schools. It all depends on what you're interested in. But I think when it comes to academics, they're all relatively the same. I know UD is in like the top 5 or 10 for chem engineering so I can't imagine civil being too bad, although I could be completely wrong. Good luck with your decision!
