Help deciding which UC to attend!

Hi everyone! I'm a political science major transferring to a UC next fall and cannot decide which school to attend. I've already been accepted to UCSD, and I'm sure I won't have any trouble being accepted into UCLA, UCB, and UCD. I plan on attending a graduate program (Law or MBA) after graduation and I'm curious to know if going to UCB or UCLA will give me more of an advantage than other UCs. I'm currently leaning towards UCSD primary for fun, the beach and living in San Diego, but I don't want to handicap myself when the time comes to apply to graduate school. I'm a norcal native and desperately want a change, which is one of the main reasons I'm leaning towards UCSD, but I don't want to pass up the opportunity to go to a "better" school. Can anyone please help me make up my mind!? :) Would going to UCLA or UCB make a significant difference when applying to graduate school or will UCSD suffice? Please, any information would be very helpful! Thank you for your time!

UCB is the best on your list and is continuously listed as the number one public school in the nation. If you are considering law school google “top 14”. It is a common list of the top 14 law schools in the nation.i don’t know why it’s 14 rather than 10 or 20. Berkeley is on that list alongside Harvard, Yale, Stanford and more. None of the other UC’s are on that list. I understand wanting to have fun, but look at the bigger picture. I’m sure you’d have a blast at Berkeley. Having said that, what seems to be of greater importance when applying to graduate school or law school is your GPA (and LSAT score if you go to law school). UCSD is an excellent school, so if you do we’ll there it won’t make that big of a difference.

As SoCal said, grad/law/med/biz schools are primarily all about numbers. Attending UCSD instead of Cal or UCLA will not derail your aspirations… a 3.3 GPA with average GRE/LSAT/MCAT/GMAT scores will.

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it :). I know Berkeley is highly ranked and very prestigious, but I’ve heard UCSD has a pretty good poli sci program and I absolutely love the campus and location. My only worry is dealing with the competitiveness of, lets say law school, coming from UCSD. If a high gpa and high lsat scores are going to be the determining factors regardless of which UC I attend, then I’d rather go to UCSD. But if going to Cal is going to give me a significant advantage, much more than that of UCSD, than I’d rather just suck it up and cram out my BA asap. Also, I think UCSD would be easier to maintain my gpa which is another reason I’m leaning towards San Diego.
