Help... decision coming down to the wire

I have two schools I've been accepted to for Geology: CO school of mines (OOS) and Michigan state (IS). Mines = 30000/year MSU = 20000/year. I know mines is pretty top knotch for UG geology, not sure about MSU. Which would you choose? I need to decide by May 1.

Go to MSU. I wouldn't pay 40,000 extra for CO. Just get high marks, and you'll get into a good graduate program. I assume that's what you're looking to do.

40K is way too much money Go to MSU

^^agreed.....

I also agree. $40k is a lot of dough. Go to MSU and save your money for graduate school.

Ditto what everyone else. While Mines is probably a better school for geology, you should just go to M-state and just save money for graduate studies.,

Wait.. how much of the extra 40k will be extra debt, though?

Even if it's not debt and someone is paying for it out of pocket, that's still money that won't go to grad school (or a car, or a house, etc...) and thus equals "future debt".

This, of course, is not necessarily true. Many families have high incomes and substantial savings and $10K per year will not impact their lifestyle, level of debt, or anything else at all.

For other families, $10K per year means debt, and service on that debt, for decades.

Each situation is different.
