I applied to Barnard Early Decision. I know that notifications come around the 15th via snail mail. However, I am currently living away from home. My admissions decision will be mailed to my house where my parents live (but where I am not right now). Only problem- my parents are out of town until December 24 and have placed a hold on the mail with the post office! This means that I won’t get my Barnard letter until December 24 (or maybe even December 26, if they don’t get it the 24 and then the post office is closed on Christmas).
I know that there is no way to find out online or via other means if you were accepted BEFORE the snail mail comes. However, I was wondering if there is a way to find out whether you got in online AFTER the snail mail comes (for instance, a few days after)? The suspense is going to drive me crazy! Also, if I got into Barnard, then I won’t submit my applications to other colleges, but if I didn’t get in then I need to know so that I can finish my supplements for other schools and submit those apps (and finding out on Dec. 26 is REALLY close to the Jan 1 deadline for other schools…not so great).
Please let me know what you all know!
Thanks!

Maybe you could try calling the school and explaining your situation? I’m sure they could find another way to send you their decision on or right after the 15th.

at least last year there is a website that you can go to and put in your student number, and it will either bring you to the admitted student’s page, or not… and you can call Barnard. I hadn’t gotten my letter in the mail, and it was something like the 18th, called them, and they told me my decision!

Thanks for the responses, guys.
Naomi, do you know how long it usually takes for the admitted students site to start working (approximately how many days after decisions are mailed will it be up)?
If the admitted students page doesn’t work, I will probably just wind up calling them…but if I don’t get in, it would be so depressing to hear that news over the phone haha. Well, fingers crossed!

Heartset - last year the site began working (accepting the assigned ID) as soon as decisions went out to internationals. Quite a few people learned of their admission by going through the site, including myself. Actually - my snail mail packet arrived almost a week after the international students got their e-mail and the NYC students received their packets. And don’t forget, assuming they haven’t changed it, the packet doesn’t come regular mail - so it won’t necessarily be in you mailbox with your daily mail delivered by your postman. It comes by itself through a special delivery. Good Luck!!!
