i'm really not sure which berkeley major i'm gonna wanna do but i need to submit my app soon. all my ec's are connected to writing, film, etc. so is it a good idea to declare my major as film studies? and is it really easy to transfer out? does it make any difference in admissions what major you declare?

you remain undeclared in the college of letters and science until your sophomore year which is when most people declare a major. On your application you can stick down any major you want as long as it is within LS and not any of the other colleges, because then you would have to transfer. So yeah, I would just put down film studies. If for some reason you decide to major in math after your first semester, it’s not a big deal since you won’t have declared.

ok, thanks a lot! :)
