Help! Deferred because they wanted to see my midyear

Hi everyone.
I applied to a top LAC and was deffered. They wanted to see my midyear report because my gpa was trending down.

Freshmen year, my GPA was a 4.1, then a 4.02 sophomore year, then a 3.84 junior year, and now a 3.94 senior year.
My uw gpa went like this:
3.81, 3.48, 3.2, 3.3
I took very rigorous courses: 11 total AP’S

The worst part is that I earned a C in the first semester. will this completely ruin my chances? I improved from junior year but one subject continued the downward trend. But I know I can improve this; the grade only dropped because of sickness. Shoud I send the college a updated progress report by the end of the month?
I’m also a male, first geneation college applicant, no rank at my school, and from VA.
