A few notes:
DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE TEXT! Yes, some of it is in Latin. (No, you don’t get extra credit for translating it. :)) Some text elements are repeated several times. The text is only there to fill out the design.
All of these are preliminary, and whichever one we use will undergo more tweaking. If you have any suggestions, let us know when you respond to the survey.
Comments are welcome here, but to get your comments viewed by the designers, be sure to put them in the survey itself.
This design effort is for the “WWW” site - any forum design changes will be a separate process.
DO NOT RUIN THIS SITE like princetonreview ruined theirs. i wont even go on their website anymore. consider keeping it the same, the navigation is clean, easy, and not an eyesore. argg…
I’m about to finish the survey, but I would like to share about what I think about each option.
Option 1: It’s nice because it still keeps the classic CC design/feeling and re-designed to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
Option 2: Clean and student-friendly site. It is well-organized and the testimonials and “see what others have to say about CC” are on the bottom on the page.
Option 3: It’s the same as Option 2 (anyone correct me if I am wrong) except the pictures. In this case, I like Option 2 better.
Option 4: Design is nice, but I don’t like the fact that the testimonials and “see what others have to say about CC” are at the top of the page.
Option 5: I like this one the least.
IMO, the best one is Option 2. Thanks for working hard to make CC better!
I like option 1 the best. It’s clean, has nice graphics and soft colors. The icons are bold and not huge and the toolbar is well laid out.
I also like the three focus points “Choose a college,” “Get Admitted,” and “Join the Discussion”
The only change I would make is to do away with the testimonial feature and instead stick with the quotes in the top banner. Replace it with a feature that highlights the latest news in education.
Options 2, 3, and 4 hurt my eyes! Haha. There’s too much going on IMHO.
Yeah… hated #5. Think of Facebook while redesigning. Facebook became popular (among other reasons) for its easy navigation, fast loading, and clean/uncluttered design. The ostensible great dissatisfaction resulting from the many cluttering applications cements my claim.
Please keep CC clean, and as others have noted, not cheesy.
Number 1: Feels a bit corporate for what CC is. Like someone said, the NYT insert is no god. I don’t think the blue header is really needs to extend all the way. Just have it behind the search bar/text. “About College Confidential” would be better kept somewhere in the footer.
Number 2: Just don’t like the design. It’s a tangent of the first one in that it feels too childish.
Number 3: This one is pretty nice. I think the blue footer design of num 2 would do good here.
Number 4: It’s alright. The stars addition for the logo looks great.
I don’t like how there’s no login form present in 2 and 4. I had to do a couple scans before I found the login button. It should be kept obvious as in 1 and 3.
