I have been dismissed from Berkeley college in Manhattan NY, but Im looking to transfer as soon as I can. If there is a 4 Year college that I can get accepted to then I will love to go. But it looks like I will have to go to Community college. I have about 30 Transferable credits. I also owe Berkeley money, and I can't get my transcript because of it. Someone help me figure out what my best Option is, thank you.

Yes but if I go to an CC will all of my credits transfer? Or will I have to just take a few courses at a community college and once I go to a four year I can add all of my credits together. I was dismissed for academic reasons.

If you transfer to CC all of your credits should transfer. I had to go through a similar situation as you. Just stay at community college and earn your associates degree then plan on transferring to another four year college. Keep in mind, in order to be accepted at another 4 year college, you must be able to clear the dismissal off your transcript from Berkeley College or apply to a college which does not request an Official College report such as USC, Penn State, Ohio State, or UVA

Ok thank you. What about my balance which is around 12,0000 at Berkeley that I owe. If im not mistaken, My advisor told me that I wont be able to transfer over my credits becuz I owe my school money. And sense I owe money, I wont be able to receive an official transcript which will allow me to transfer. But there has to be some type of way I can still transfer. If that’s the case then how do ppl transfer from a school when they owe money from there previous school.

Did you take out student loans to attend Berkeley? If so, and as long as you are still attending school, you should be able to defer payment until after you graduate. I transferred from a 4-year to a CC and I’m getting ready to transfer again, and I haven’t paid anything back yet.

How do you “owe” the school money? If you take out a loan, you don’t take it out through the school… you take it out through a third party, then they pay the school, then you owe the third party money.

You need to settle your account at Berkeley before your transcripts can be released. Even if you can enroll anywhere else how can you pay for it if you owe that kind of money? You need to deal with your bills before you start thinking about enrolling anywhere else!
