Hey guys. I previously posted about transfering to LA, Berkley and SD for econ, and I'm happy to say so far my fall quarter is going fantastic. I've started working on my application and I know you're supposed to update your grades after fall semester, but De Anza College goes on a quarter system. What I'm unsure about is if UC's will require me to update with Winter Quarter in addition to Fall Quarter and factor that into my GPA and and overall admission decisions. Winter Quarter at De Anza ends at March 31, 2006, I'm not sure if that's too late because admission decisions go out around May, right? I was wondering because registration is coming up and in Winter Quarter I'm gonna be taking Math 1c (1st class of multivar calc, math is tough for me). In addition, I was hoping to take more fun classes after Fall Quarter and relax a little. If Winter Quarter counts I'll be forced to take classes at funky times to get decent professors and overall just a tougher schedule to keep my application competitive. I just want to double-check with you guys, thanks for all your insight.

That's WAYYYY too late. Those grades will not be factored in. They'll just be seen as IP.

what about semesters with intersession, my winter part ends in very early january like the first week

No. Normally they do not consider winter intersession grades.

gabew42, someone on the forums said that on the UC application it stated they they indeed factored in Winter session grades. I'll have to check that though. I'm in the same situation as ForeverYoung. By the way, SMC's (Santa Monica Colelge) Winter session ends in early February.

Quote from Berkeley transfer advisor email:

"We generally don't use the grades from the winter intercessions."

She told me not to take any winter intersession classes just to raise my GPA, because they would not be factored in. We update grades in January

Ah, alright. Thanks for clarifying that.
