Hello all, I was just wondering if it is at all possible to jump from a 28 C on a practice ACT to a 33+ within the next few weeks or so.
First of all, the SAT is in less than two weeks, and I'm already doing grueling preparation for it. I'm cramming Dr. Chung's SAT Math book, The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar and DH Vol 1 and 2 in these next few days before the SAT.
After that, there's 3 weeks left until the ACT, and during that 3 week time period I would be studying between 2-3 hrs a day, using the official RB, Barron's 36, PR Review, PR's 1296 questions, and four practice tests I found from CC. I'm going to be doing two practice tests (just sections, not the entire ACT) everyday, and take 5 complete ACT tests in one sitting throughout those 3 weeks. Combined w/ the extensive studying I'm doing for the SAT in these two weeks, and another 3 weeks of intense ACT prep for the ACT, can I jump from a current 28 C (from a practice test) to a 33+ by the October ACT? Any comments or suggestions? What else do I/ should I need to do? Thanks to all that help!

your doing the right thing in terms of prep but your timeframe is too short

Do you think I can reach that goal though?

You have to tell yourself you can reach it. You can’t rely on us. Get off the threads and go study so you know you can :)

I know I can do it, I just want to know whether its realistic or not to go from a 28 C to 33+. I don’t want to be disappointed when I receive my scores.

It will be tough but not impossible. Most people feel the practice tests are easier than the real thing. If this is your first real ACT then I doubt you can jump from a practice of 28 to a real of 33.

If you are using the actual red book you are most likely to score about what your practice score was. Statistically speaking, you are most likely to get a 28 (or a 27 or a 29).

Focus on either the SAT or ACT. If you have already taken both, use the test that gets you the highest %tile rank and focus on it. If its about the same, go with whatever format you feel most comfortable.

I’m studying strictly for the SAT first, then the ACT. How much overlap is there between the two tests? And is there anything I can possibly do now to help me raise my score? I’m pretty much open to anything , given that I’m desperate to increase my score through whatever it takes.
