I am interested in applying to Duke, but I'm having issues with writing the option essay.

"(Optional) Duke University seeks a talented, engaged student body that embodies the wide range of human experience; we believe that the diversity of our students makes our community stronger. If you'd like to share a perspective you bring or experiences you've had to help us understand you better-perhaps related to a community you belong to, your sexual orientation or gender identity, or your family or cultural background-we encourage you to do so."

This is the topic, but I wrote about almost the exact same thing for the Common App essay! I wrote about how my cultures have shaped who I am.

I don't want to be redundant and write the exact same thing, but I feel like I need to do the optional essay in order to have a chance at admissions. I also am not sure that I have enough time to rewrite my common app essay.

What do you guys think I should do?
