Help! Emergency!

Hi, I am an incoming freshman for the NYU class of 2011. I received an email last night saying I had not paid my housing deposit, even though I actually did indeed pay it. I even received a separate email 2 days before that one giving me a receipt for my payment as well as a confirmation number. Unfortunately I cannot talk to anyone at NYU because I get out of school after the office closes (time difference in California), and up until now I naturally thought they had received the deposit because they sent me a receipt. Is there anything I can do right now? I left a message, but by the time anyone gets it it'll be too late- this is really really really really ****ing me off and I'd really hate to lose my reserved housing because of something stupid like this. Thanks!

People were saying on the NYU 2011 group that they're REALLY backed up. As long as you have the receipt, I don't think they can revoke your housing, as it is their fault. Don't worry... I got an email like that a couple weeks ago, and a few minutes later, my NYU Housing page said that they had received my payment.

call the housing dept. I sent a check a week ago, and I asked them to call me. they called me in the morning and they said they didn't receive it yet, but i checked online later and they said they did.

the lady said they're getting TONS of envelopes and stuff right now. they said as long as they received your mail before the 31st its fine, even if they don't open your envelope by the 31st

It happened to me. I sent it in like 2 weeks ago, and they just updated the online thing today for me. I have been receiving notices from them to do it ASAP, but I had the receipt for a while.

Note: I called the Office of Bursar about 4 days after I paid online and they said they received it, but Housing Department said otherwise. I guess delays within NYU or something @_@

In the worst scenario, they won't hear of this problem until the office opens up again. Even in such a case, you can file a complaint and the housing board will hear it. If you can provide solid evidence that none of this is your fault (which IMO seems to be the case) then you should have no problems next semester.

Yeah, just tell your teacher you using the bathroom, looking for a janitor, changing a spark plug in your car, whatever and call them.
