Help figuring out where to go in university next

I’ve been studying computer engineering for three years, but I’m a year behind, I dislike it, and there’s one class (Calculus 4) that I just can’t pass. I’ve seemingly tried everything to pass it, gone to tutors, office hours, online tutorials, etc. Last time I tried taking it I must have studied like 40 hours a week just for this one class and I still failed the first exam and then dropped the class.

Now, obviously, the simple solution here would be to switch out of the major. However, at the university I go to, most of the majors that interest me (accounting, marketing, computer information systems) are completely closed off behind the business school, which is impossible for me to get into because it requires a 3.0 GPA, and I have three years of classes worth of a straight 2.0. I am also interested in English, Sociology, and Journalism, but I am worried about the job prospects for those majors, especially if I wouldn’t be able to get into a graduate school.

Also, side question, I hate the idea of never passing this Calculus class. Prior to Calculus 3, I was typically an A student in math classes, but I struggled with Calculus 3, eventually got passed it, and am now struggling with Calculus 4. I really want to figure out the material, because this feeling of hitting a roadblock has caused me to be very depressed. Does anyone here have any idea what could be causing these issues?

I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself. Don’t worry about passing the class. Look at the problems and see where you are misunderstanding concepts, etc. Practice, practice, practice. And, maybe look into different majors that you could do. If you dislike calculus this much, and your major requires more, I think you should change majors. If your college is really stubborn and will not let you in to a different program, change colleges. Change! Talk to your parents, your adviser, seniors, and friends! Look for help.

Can you take it in summer at a community college and transfer the credit back to your college or is it too advanced to be offered at a cc?
