help, file too large

<p>help! middlebury wants a graded writing sample, and i scanned a copy with my teacher's comments in a JPEG file, which i scanned into a word file(with other info in it). </p>

<p>the thing is, the word doc is way too large(1.5mb) to put in the additional info section(max: 500 kb), which i've only realized a minute ago. </p>

<p>should i like, try to convert it into a pdf doc, or maybe put half of it into my personal essay section??</p>

<p>or email/fax it to middlebury???</p>

<p>Couple of possible solutions.
Save the document as pdf - this may reduce the size.</p>

<p>Or, when you scan, you can scan at different dpi / resolution(or a similar setting). You can also scan as black and white only. Depending on your scanner, try to go for a lower res scan which will create smaller images.</p>
