Help financial aid

I submitted my FAFSA and it was processed in January with information from my parent's 2011 tax returns. My parents recently did their 2012 tax returns. I was planning to update my fafsa, but for some reason when I logged onto my account, my fafsa was gone. My parent's 2012 and 2011 income differs by only a few hundred dollars and all of the other information are the same. Should I make a new FAFSA? Should I just do nothing and let colleges use the information I already submitted?

Contacting each college isn’t something I want to do because I applied to a little over 20.

Try logging in again. You need to link your parents’ new return to your FAFSA. If you can’t get that done, contact the FAFSA help line. And yes, all of your colleges need the update.

And NO…don’t start a second FAFSA.

Did you log in the wrong year?

Any chance that your name is misspelled in the FAFSA system, or that you flipped a couple of digits around in your SSN or birthdate? Any of those would cause you to not access your current file.

FAFSA form can be edited any time manually by 10-page Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR is generated upon request. Or you can also make correction through phone by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1.800.433.3243. Only thing you need will your Data Release Number (DRN) in order for them to assist you.
