@lexluthor5 Congrats on the decision. We are headed there on Friday for the admitted student day. I think our D would also benefit from a bit more support so I will mention that to her.
It’s supposed to snow a bit while we are there - hopefully not a deal breaker.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! And again I think it’s great that you made it a fun journey, and shared that journey with everyone. There are lots and lots of great and varied places, and it’s terrific when students are looking for something that’s great for them. I hope she has a grand time.
Figured one final post was in order here.
We’ve since been back to Miami U for orientation and was thoroughly impressed with everything once again. The campus and facilities are all first class. The dorms are the best we’ve seen by a longshot. Everything they do is extremely organized and professional down to all of the little details. One thing that is a theme throughout is that they really seem to care about the kids and how important it is for them to stay and graduate in 4 years. Miami U seems very unique in that, from the administration to the maintenance of the campus, it feels like a smaller private school, but it’s really a mid-size public school. It’s really a great balance they have found.
Our daughter clicked with a girl on social media from Indiana and are they excited to be roommates and have been doing a lot of planning. She’s very excited about all of the people she’s met and the opportunities she’ll have at Miami. We are heading to a NYC meet-up tonight which we are looking forward to. She’s thrilled with her choice so far. We are heading for drop off 3 weeks from yesterday!
The help I’ve received from others here has been invaluable in both of our college searches. I’ve tried to share our process in the hopes that someone else may read thread and find something useful.
Not sure we are ready to be empty nesters, but it’s coming either way.
