help find a college for me im clueless lol

i am a good student, i have a 3.61 gpa, and i take honors courses in some subjects, what schools can i get into????

btw i am a junior so i need to decide where im going to apply like NOW lol

Miami of Ohio, U of Colorado, U of Vermont, Fordham, U of Wisconsin-Madison, Santa Clara, Boston University, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Clark University, Union College, SUNY Otswego, U of Maine, Florida State, U of Miami, U of Alberta, Connecticut College, Depauw, DePaul, Denison, Kalamazoo, Beloit, Allegheny, Kansas, Oklahoma, San Diego State, U of Hawaii, Texas Tech, Baylor, Tulane, American U.

university of miami, florida!

wait wait wait, u dont think i should apply to any “good” schools? i mean i rly want to go to princeton (like my user name, lol)so i was hoping u guys would say that or like something in the ivy league like maybe a less-difficult one like cornell. i mean i have good grades, im class president, and im a jv cheerleader and in tons of clubs, cant i get in? lets face it no one cares about any of the schools u two listed lol

i think it depends on your test scores (with generic info given, it’s hard to know what is stretch match and safety)
you can (and should) apply to what you consider “good” schools if that’s your dream, but
even if you want to go to princeton, you’ll need to apply to match and safety schools
i think schmaltz gave several great options–people DO care about those schools
they may not have the prestige of princeton, but several have better specific programs
in particular, Miami of Ohio is ranked top 3 in undergraduate teaching
you can get a great education at any school, it’s what you put into it
ivys are hard for everyone to get into, even with good grades and a hard course load because so many strong applicants apply
what qualities are you looking for in a school? size, prestige, location, major, admission difficulty?
i think with more info people on cc could come up with a better list

my main issue is presstige. i really dont think i will apply to “safeties” because i am confident ill at least get accepted to the ivy’s. i have a 3.61 weighted gpa, and my act score is a 27, plus im super involved (im class president). so im obviously applying to princeton, then probably harvard and yale and stanford too.

You can’t get into the Ivy’s. Sorry.

wait why??? not even princeton? what about the easy ones everybody gets into like cornell and dartmouth?what are they loooking for i dont have?

The average GPA for admitted high school students into Princeton was 3.9 the ACT ranged from 31-36, the SAT Writing scores ranged from 700-780 while the Math ranged from 700-790.
Right now I don’t believe Princeton or most of the Ivies would take you, but you still have time to improve your GPA and redo the ACT so you might have a chance.
Taking honors classes in some courses is not rigorous enough for many of the Ivies considering that your not taking honors courses for all your classes, additionally, honors is not as rigorous as AP, IB or Aice.
You’ll also have to have a good amount of involvement in volunteer work and leadership experiences that shows you are an all around good candidate.
Quite frankly, your better off applying to the schools Schmaltz and Comeonapril posted. Just because they may not be ranked in the top 20s doesn’t mean they aren’t great schools. Their education can be just as good as a top school even more so in their school’s specialty.

whats aice??? im taking AP lang next yr. and im student body president!!! and i volunteer reading to my grandma in the summer 2 days/wk for 2 hrs at a time. what if i get my score up to a 36 and write my essay on being class president??? will i get in?

Check out some of the better Liberal Arts Colleges (say, numbers 11 to 40 in the US News survey). Some great schools include Wesleyan, CT College, Franklin and Marshall, Oberlin and Kenyon, although some of them might be reach schools for you. Jackuk

what is my “match” range??do i have a chance @ princeton/harvard?

Go to college data dot com and put in all your info. then add Princeton and any other school you are interested in attending/applying. It will give you a good idea of your “chances” at any school. It’s been very accurate for S1.

You don’t have a chance at any of the Ivies. Even though your going to be taking AP Language next year that’s not going to be enough, you would have needed to have a rigorous high school course load for the past 4 years and one class isn’t going to cut it. They are going to be receiving applications from students who have been taking all Aice, IB, & AP classes all four years. You really don’t meet any of the requirements their looking for. Writing about your experience as class president is going to help either since they are going to be receiving thousands of applicants that are class presidents just like you but with higher stats.
Reading to your grandma over the summer doesn’t count as volunteer work either. You would have had to volunteered at a library, school, church, human society, etc for it to count as actual volunteer work.

Aice is an international program set up by the University of Cambridge (England) where students can earn college credit in 11th & 12th grade depending if you pass the end of the year examinations. There is also Pre-Aice for 9th & 10th grade that prepares you for Aice. There are AS and A level classes. The AS levels cover one year of college coursework while A levels are equivalent to two years of college coursework. If you pass 6 of the examinations, one math, one English, one science and 3 more of whichever you choice you van receive the Advanced International Certificate of Education (aka Aice Diploma).

ok cool, where do i go on that site to do that?

whats S1?

i’m not british tho so how would that even be possible!?!?

*i really dont think i will apply to “safeties” because i am confident ill at least get accepted to the ivy’s. i have a 3.61 weighted gpa, and my act score is a 27, *

You don’t have the stats for top schools. top schools accept kids with very high stats…top GPAs and top test scores. NONE are easy to get into even with perfect stats.

First you have to ask your parents how much they’ll pay. That answer will likely determine where you should apply.

omg so much ■■■■■.

I said it’s an international program meaning the US has it along with several other countries.

That’s a pretty low GPA for that ACT score. You should try to retake the ACT and score around a 24 or 25, to make sure that colleges don’t think you’re just smart but lazy in class.
