help find a college for me im clueless lol

[quote I take issue with her post #4 - there is nothing wrong with the schools that have been suggested. They are “good” schools. Take a look at those.

That was also my first thought. Especially with the comment that she isn’t applying to any safeties. Unfortunately, with those stats, you do not have a strong chance at an Ivy. Even if you get your ACT into the 30s, you still have a below-average chance. It is also really, really rude to say that “no one cares about those schools” when many posters here on CC attend them - especially since your stats fall right in the target range for most of them.

ANY Ivy league school is a crapshoot simply because of the amount of qualified applicants who apply. Princeton accepts <10% of its applicants; same with Harvard, Yale, and Columbia. Those “easier to get into” Ivies that you cited still have admissions rates in the teens, and many of the students who are rejected have higher ACTs and GPAs than you do.

For what it’s worth, I was rejected from Princeton (applied on a whim, haha) with a 4.0, 2250 SAT, 34 ACT, National AP Scholar award and pretty good ECs/essays, if I do say so. C’est la vie. I applied knowing it was a crapshoot, and when I didn’t get in, I shrugged it off, because college admissions - especially to a place like Princeton - are simply a game of chance. The best thing you can do is give yourself a good chance by putting yourself into the acceptable range.

You started this thread saying you were “clueless,” and if you’re not a ■■■■■, then you should understand that your cluelessness is pretty apparent. Do not get so defensive when other posters point out that you have unrealistic expectations - listen to their advice. They know what they’re talking about.

Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt. If she is a ■■■■■, then we’re just helping out anybody else that might be in the same position.

I’m not going to go into the whole “your stats aren’t good enough” since it really isn’t that helpful. I can, however, offer my own experience. My stats are:

SAT: 2400
ACT 36
SAT II: Math - 800, Physics - 800, Chinese - 790
APs: 15 total, 8 5s, 2 4s so far
GPA: 3.85UW/4.5W
Awards/Honors: National level taekwondo, 4x AIME, lots of math competition wins, medals at Science Olympiad, top 3 at Science Bowl, programming competition national qualifier
Volunteer: 200 hours at hospital

Ivy acceptances: 0/8

No Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. No Columbia, Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, or Brown. Not a single one. Flat out rejections too, not even waitlists. I did get into Duke, Virginia (honors), and NYU however. Healthy dose of perspective I’d say.

PrincetonPrincess—the spelling, grammar, and punctuation in your posts on this forum demonstrate a lack of attention to detail, which will be detrimental to you if you’re trying to apply to Ivy League colleges. Your academic performance isn’t necessarily stellar, either. While that’s not always an indicator of intelligence—there are people, for instance, who tend to come into their own later in life—if you’re trying to apply to an Ivy as a traditional student, it’s not going to look good to the admissions officers.

Honestly? I’d recommend a) going to a college with less stringent admissions requirements as an undergraduate and earn the grades necessary to attend an Ivy League college for grad school (that wouldn’t apply to Princeton, of course, but the others have graduate programs), or b) attending a community college and transferring to a more selective college after your two years are up. But before you do that, I’d recommend taking a refresher course in English, since you’ve misspelled words like “prestige,” and make elementary mistakes, like confusing “no” and “know.”

This girl has GOT to be ■■■■■■■■. Hard.

I suspected as much, although you never know; forums attract interesting “characters.”

Unsavory characters.

Hah, yeah. Seriously, now, how do you go on a forum with spelling and grammar THAT bad, and talk about how you took lightweight classes like “Family Studies” and “Fashion Merchandising,” and then talk about wanting to go to Princeton, Harvard, and Yale? I’m completely dumbfounded. When I was in high school, I don’t think I ran into anyone with an entitlement complex THAT bad.

I really do not understand why her threads are not locked.

■■■■■ or Poe?

The OP isn’t going to believe you because she thinks a couple of the ivies accept everyone…lol

It takes WAY more than a 3.61 WEIGHTED GPA, and being the class president to get into the ivy leagues. You can keep dreaming, but unless you improve, it’s a guaranteed no.

Uh, this is a pretty bizarre ■■■■■ if I’ve ever seen one.
