So I currently go to a high school where all the girls have bright blond hair, wear true religion and designer jeans, yell at their mothers for not getting them the marc jacobs purse they liked, and live off juicy and uggs.

I have a lot of really great friends at school despite them being slightly obnoxious and snobby, however, im not like them at all.

I'm very free and sort of indie.Im first generation American (My parents are from the Mediterranean) and I don't look like my friends at all. Almost my whole wardrobe is from urban outfitters. I hate getting in fights, im really easy going and love to have fun.

I want to sort of get away from girls like the ones at my school in college. I want more people who are not as conceited and people who are more relaxed in general.

I have a A- to A gpa and a 2300.

Which colleges would be good to look at?
Which colleges WONT be good to look at?

I live in the east, but I'd love to go to California. I will not go to the mid west. So basically its cali or east.

this isnt a major detail of course, but im just curious.

im a junior right now. Whats NMSF? and no money is not an issue at all. My parents wouldnt mind paying for Cali state schools even though were out of state or anything

Have you gotten your PSAT scores yet? Since you have a 2300 SAT, that suggests that you would have done well on the PSAT. Schools sometimes don’t give those scores until after Christmas holidays.

There are many Calif schools that work with your scores. However, even with your scores, getting into a Calif UC school is going to be hard simply because of the pressures to accept their own in-state students into already crowded schools.

Keep in mind that many Calif schools have a lot of highlighted blonds carrying designer handbags.

What is your weighted GPA? Also, the UC’s only use certain classes to figure GPA, so you’ll need to figure out what your “UC GPA” will be. :)

NYU sounds like a great idea if the weather is ok. Whenever someone is leaning towards Calif, I get the feeling that they want warm weather (altho I could be totally wrong. )

I like pointoforder’s list and I think that the Claremont colleges sound like a very good fit for you. As well as Pomona, you might consider Scripps and Pitzer.

In addition, in the east, I would add Bates, which has a has a less preppy feel than the other Maine schools, Bard and Vassar.

I live in the midwest and I don’t see why your parents would let you go there. It is more laid back, but you will still get the obnoxious people (depending on where you go of course). There are many great schools around here.

What do you plan to major in also?! That certainly does make a difference.

I think of Rice and Brown for you… Rice is quirky and doesn’t seem to have much of the type of girl you want to get away from and Brown is more indie and laid back than most of the Ivy League.

Also I might have to add that for a “suggest me colleges” thread there is an unusual preoccupation with clothing and brands. Yeah, some girls have blonde hair and wear Uggs and Juicy bags… that doesn’t mean they’re obnoxious and conceited. And saying you wear Urban Outfitters doesn’t tell people what kind of person you are. Maybe the clothes someone wears do play some role in a person’s character but don’t overemphasize it.
