Help Finding Affordable Pre-Med Colleges

Yes …Especially if sis is getting financial aid. …please ask your parents how much they can pay per year per child.

She was valedictorian of her HS with a 33 ACT. A lot of the pre-med students are high stats. My son is pre-vet there and he had a 29 ACT (never studied) and a 4.3 GPA. They both love it. The school has a low average because they accept most students (but the upper ones get the scholarships). Their view is that every student deserves a change. BUT the pre med and pre vet programs are very competitive and do not draw the lower GPA students unless they are really driven! The classes are small and the professors are the nicest I have met! The honors college has even smaller classes. My son (from a large, urban, competitive OOS hs fell in love with it there!) They both just finished their freshman year with a 4.0 each and felt they had learned a lot! She told me about how much she loved her research and her advisor. It is a safety but it is honestly a great school. They both turned down much hight ranked schools to go there because of the fit.

@momocarly that is so cool! I will definitely check it out.

If you want to go pre-med then think about:

  1. The cheapest reasonable college so you/your parents can use the money for med school
  2. The college needs to prepare you for MCATs but still allow you to get a good GPA
  3. Access to volunteering opportunities (e.g., near a hospital)
  4. Success in graduates getting into med school
  5. Options if you don’t go to med school
