Hi! I’m trying to find a good college. I live in New Jersey so I would prefer a college in the northeast or around the east coast. I plan on majoring in art education so the school would have to offer that as a major. I would prefer if the school is more on the small side with a student body of around 7000 or less. Since I plan on majoring in art education, I would like it to have a good art facility and the school itself be rather artistic. I don’t have many preferences on location but I would like it to be in walking distance of a few stores and restaurants. I would also like the for dorms and dining halls to be decent. If possible a tuition under 37,000 would be perfect! I have a GPA of 3.7 and on the SAT’s I got 1130.
Check out Ithaca College.
Try Parsons, Pratt Institute, College for Creative Studies (Michigan), Savannah College of Arts and Design, Massachusetts College of Art and Design. You would fit great at all of those with your stats. Try some liberal arts colleges as well! There are many on the east coast and they offer great aid, are quite artsy, and have the student body size that you’re looking for.
Good luck!
VCUARTS Richmond VA.
If you plan to teach in NJ, TCNJ is a great choice - in-state tuition and general considered the best teaching program in the state. SUNY schools are also pretty affordable as out of state and most have good education programs.
Tcnj is a great school for ED . However, the art school only became officially accredited last year I believe. Not sure
how that affects an art history major? But for now, its not a highly rated art/design school. It is in fact a very highly rated school for ed teaching.
I believe SUNY New Paltz ahas art education (double check) and NYS rates are good even for OOS students. But you should study for and reatake the SATs to try to get the score up.
