Help finding colleges

I’m a junior from GA, planning on going to GaTech. It’s a good school and nearby, so it’s kind of the default. I want to know which other schools I could realistically think of applying and maybe going to.

I don’t really know what I want to major in, though I know it’s STEM without the M.
Money is not an issue.
I’d like to get a doctorate in whatever I decide to major in.
I’d like to go to a big school, in a big city.
I’m not interested in greek life.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with GT, I’d just like to see my options, and it seems wrong to just apply to one college and a safety.

I’m Asian female, American citizen.

My high school stats are:
GPA weighted/unweighted: 94.2/99.4 (school grades out of 100, +7 for AP or honors)
SAT: 1540, w/o essay (I plan to take it again, along with ACT)
APs:
Bio 5
HuGeo 4
World History 4

Dual Enrollment American Government

Current Schedule:
AP Chem
Orchestra
AP Lang (this class is crushing me, I don’t think I’ll get past a 3 in the best case scenario)
AP Physics 1
APUSH
BC

ECs: (note: I hate responsibility and leadership. I do not intend on getting any such position in any EC. I know that this will hurt me in college apps. I don’t think it’s worth how much I hate it.)
I’ve fenced since sixth grade. (the sport) I’m OK but not nearly good enough for a scholarship.
I’m a dedicated member of our robotics team.
My team won first in Video Game Design for GA TSA.
I play the violin and got into Fulton County High School Honor Orchestra.
My friends and I have a quartet called Healing in Harmony that plays at hospitals.
I’m in my church orchestra and in a school club that plays at nursing homes.

Please tell me if I should add anything else.

With your stats, and no financial constraints, many schools could be a match. Look into Boston University, Northeastern University, American University, George Washington University, Georgetown – these are ones that come to mind right off the bat.

What I’m really looking for is a school that is so much better than GaTech that it would be worth going out of state for it, especially in the STEM field. I’m not interested in business, law, politics, or medicine. I’m interested in schools with strong science/technology/engineering programs, stronger than GaTech.

HarveyMudd, Stanford, RPI?

There aren’t many really stronger than Georgia Tech. Rice would be a leading contender, and a beautiful campus, great weather (during most of school year). I’d say also Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, Chicago, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Wash U in St. Louis, and probably some of the Ivies. Good luck!

A school more exclusive and out of state would be Franklin Olin School of Engineering, in Mass.

I agree with #4 – GaTech is one of the better STEM schools in the country. If you want a “better” school, you’re looking at universities along the lines of MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Harvey Mudd and others mentioned here. Obviously they’re reaches, because schools of that caliber are reaches for everyone; the ones I named tend to be “matches” for you. Like I said, you’re in the privileged place of having great stats and not having money issues. That’s a very nice spot to be in. Good luck!
