What I'm looking for:
Strong Economics program
Preferably in Midwest/Northeast
Would prefer a school with a liberal leaning student body
Good Financial Aid
Size: medium to large
Location: Preferably urban, or near a city
Sports: Don't care

Thank you in advance for your time, I'll chance you back if you want.

Northwestern is a good reach if you can somehow account for your GPA in your essay or elsewhere on your application.

NYU as a potential match/low reach
uchi = reach

If you need good FA then look to your in-state publics. Also for some merit aid (though that GPA isn’t the best) look at some LACs like Ohio Wesleyan, Earlham, Taylor, Knox, Denison.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Also forgot to mention that I’m in Illinois, and (probably) will be a NMF.

BU would probably be a low match/safety.

If you do make NMF then definitely look at Denison. They offer full tuition merit aid for NMFs.

Rice sounds good, as does Macalester (fit all except the medium-large size requirement).

Try Notre Dame.

Hopefully your HS will send a note with your apps that explains how rigorous your school is. You might give Cornell a look, although not near a big city. Georgetown, Boston College, Penn, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon.

Holy Cross, Tufts.

for medium to large university in Midwest/Northeast, you can find:

Thank you for all the replies. I was looking at University of Wisconsin - Madison, does anyone know if they offer much aid to OOS applicants?
