help finding safeties please

Hi, I just finished my junior year and am trying to finalize my college list. I have plenty of reaches but I need some solid safeties that have
1. good biology and/or biomedical engineering programs
2. preferably good financial aid (my parents make about 60k, but are very much in debt)
3. some form of field hockey (lol)

My stats:
GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.6 W
SAT: 2340 800M/740CR/800W
AP: World History (4), US History, Physics B, Environmental Science, Physics C Mechanics, Bio, Calc AB, Calc BC, English Lang, English Lit, Spanish Lang

Extracurriculars:
Field Hockey - captain of school team, play club, might be good enough for DIII or DII
Lacrosse - captain of school team
Spanish Honor Society - President
Green Team - Co -President, wrote a grant for 2k, started a raised bed garden that donates food to school cafeteria, soup kitchens, helps kids learn about sustainability
NHS
Tri-M Music Honor Society - member of Orchestra
Have a job as a hostess at local restaurant work 10-20 hours/week during school year 15-30 during summer

I am a white female if that makes a difference

Try Penn State, University of Delaware, University of Pittsburgh, and/or Clemson.

thanks! oh also I should have mentioned I would like it to be on the east coast

If you are looking for schools where you will get merit aid, you should consider a few places which are good schools but where you are well above the stats. A couple of options off the top of my head which I believe give good merit aid might be Fordham, Muhlenberg, Goucher, Dickinson. Also NY state schools are good deals even for OOS students so maybe SUNY Binghamton as well. And apply to the state school where you live.

Also, with those stats, you may get good merit aid at Tulane, Case Western, URochester. Try for one of the full tuition awards from Tulane – process is very straightforward, at least as of this past year.

These are not safeties, but given your parents’ income, you might well qualify for financial aid at many schools. If you don’t have them on your list, I would add in a few schools that meet full need, including Cornell, Tufts, Penn and Vanderbilt. In addition, Rochester, mentioned by OHDavid is a good choice - it has DIII field hockey, offers biomedical engineering and would probably give you a combination of merit money and financial aid.

State of residency?

For need-based financial aid, some of the most selective private universities, and public universities in some states for their in-state students, are good. But many private universities, nearly all out-of-state public universities, and many states’ public universities for their in-state students will come up short in need-based financial aid. Check the net price calculator on each school’s web site.

I am from maryland

Check the net price calculators on the Maryland public universities to see if they are affordable for you.

With your scores I would consider schools like Mount Holyoke, Macalester, Smith, UMass probably even Colby, Colgate, Grinnell as kinda safeties.

Financial aid is not give solely based on the income. They consider the debt.

Apply to some ivies, maybe Brown, Cornell, UPenn. Apply to Vanderbilt, Hopkins, Tufts, Georgetown.

Apply to some liberal arts like Bowdoin, Seven Sisters, Franklin & Marshall, Skidmore

Apply to one or two state schools which give aid. I don’t know about that tho. I go to UIowa with full ride which the ministry of my country gave me.

I think if you have any interest in biomed eng. you should focus on schools that have biomed engineering. Here are the ones in the northeast and mid-Atlantic states -

Your stats are very good and being a female engineering applicant can help you at many (but not all) engineering schools. It can also boost your odds of merit scholarships…
Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, RPI, BU, Northeastern, WPI, Tufts, Bucknell, Union, Lehigh and more are worth considering. Some of these are great at meeting financial need while others are good because they offer merit scholarships, which can be significant.
