Hi everyone,
I need some help finding safety schools to apply to...

I'm a current junior (female) from New England at a top boarding school with an A- average
SAT : Math 710, Reading 800, Writing 800

And having trouble finding less selective schools that fit my criteria:
-Well respected
-Urban/In a city
-Not too small (about 4000 min?)
-Not in a super-cold climate =P

Any ideas? I can give more info if you need, but any help is really really appreciated! :)

thanks! GW is actually one of my favorite schools (top is Georgetown)... do you know what their admissions stats were this year?
And I don't know that much about American...?

thank you!
Any other suggestions?
(My college counselor is vehement about my having some true safeties, but I don't like the schools she suggested)

If you apply early enough (before October 1), the University of Michigan (yes, it is cold) would be a virtual safety. You should get an acceptance by mid-late December. But applying before October 1 is a must.

Emory, Rochester (also cold) and Vanderbilt are also virtual safeties for you.

are you a national merit finalist? if so, i'd apply to schools that offer national merit scholarships. Most should be safeties (ASU comes to mind), and it's nice to have an almost full scholarship just in case.

Since you are female, you can consider all of the women's colleges. With your stats most of the southern women's colleges including Agnes Scott, Hollins, Sweet Briar, and Mary Baldwin would be likely "safeties".

Not to mention your home state public university.
