Help Finding Safeties?

Hi everyone,
I need some help finding safety schools to apply to...

I'm a current junior (female) from New England at a top boarding school with an A- average
SAT : Math 710, Reading 800, Writing 800

And having trouble finding less selective schools that fit my criteria:
-Well respected
-Urban/In a city
-Not too small (about 4000 min?)
-Not in a super-cold climate =P

Any ideas? I can give more info if you need, but any help is really really appreciated! :)

fordham, george washington, and american are three that come to mind.

thanks! GW is actually one of my favorite schools (top is Georgetown)... do you know what their admissions stats were this year?
And I don't know that much about American...?

Emory and Vandy

thank you!
Any other suggestions?
(My college counselor is vehement about my having some true safeties, but I don't like the schools she suggested)

bump...help...please? :)

You go to a top boarding school. Talk to your college counselor and have them tell you what good safeties are.

yeah... my college counselor isnt super helpful. she only suggested BU, which is not a good match for me.

If you apply early enough (before October 1), the University of Michigan (yes, it is cold) would be a virtual safety. You should get an acceptance by mid-late December. But applying before October 1 is a must.

Emory, Rochester (also cold) and Vanderbilt are also virtual safeties for you.

nyu/georgetown and MAYBE hopkins could be safeties.

are you a national merit finalist? if so, i'd apply to schools that offer national merit scholarships. Most should be safeties (ASU comes to mind), and it's nice to have an almost full scholarship just in case.

i agree with ivilleslacker. i'd also list harvard, yale, princeton, cornell, chicago, berkeley, oxford, and cambridge as good safeties

Look at Rice, definitely. Tulane would be a safety.

ecco, not one of those is a safety.

Since you are female, you can consider all of the women's colleges. With your stats most of the southern women's colleges including Agnes Scott, Hollins, Sweet Briar, and Mary Baldwin would be likely "safeties".

Not to mention your home state public university.

Don't you have access to naviance data for your school? You can assess safties for you there and then discuss them with your college counselor.

i know, and neither is georgetown nor johns hopkins

^ isn't it sad how sarcasm can be so easily lost on the internet?

Those schools stats (Hollins, Sweet Briar, Mary Baldwin) are WAY below your scores. Check them out.

your score is 2310, which helps you get into most well-known colleges.
i think the safety for you are BU,UCs, .....
