Help Finding Schools to Apply to

Hi guys,

I am having some trouble figuring out what colleges I should apply to this fall. My current list looks like this:

Safety: UT Austin
Low Reach: Rice

At this point, I am dead set on going to Rice if I am accepted. It is probably the closest thing to a perfect college I am going to find. I would apply ED but I goofed on my June 6th SAT (1930 SAT), particularly on my math score (570). I plan to retake in Oct and realistically, I am looking at something close to my PSAT score (205) so my SAT score could range from a 2040 to a 2150. My SAT score should be decent enough to have a shot at Rice, and being a 1st gen low income URM doesn’t hurt either.

These are the aspects of Rice that make me love it so much in descending order of importance (some are very arbitrary)

  1. Low Undergrad Population (<6,000)
  2. Residential Colleges (More inclusive than frats, house identities and feuds are fascinating, easier social time)
  3. Close ties to Medical School (Rice/Baylor Med Program, Texas Medical Center is right cross the street... plan on being either a Neuroscience or Journalism Pre-Med)
  4. Prestige (It is nice to know that people here in the south will go "nice/wow/cool, you go to Rice?"
  5. Houston Texannssss!!! (NRG Stadium is right down the highway, and I am a huge Houston Texans fan and a huge NFL fan.)
  6. 15% Hispanic (pretty high for a top 20 college, I am Hispanic) 25% Asian (Asian girls = hot)
  7. The school colors are my favorite colors

So basically, I want help finding colleges similar to Rice, most importantly having a low undergrad population, little to no frats/easier social scene accessibility, and a connection to top 30 med schools/being a good top 30 med school feeder. Mostly looking for high matches/low reaches, since UT is kinda my one and only match/safety school. I live in Texas, but OOS colleges are definitely welcome since I wouldn’t mind being far away from my family. I am looking for about 3 more colleges to apply to, for a total of 5. Any help?

Add Baylor to your list, if you have money or can earn good scholarship. It is much smaller than UT and has good pre med program offering close ties with medical community in Texas.
