anyone...?

What is your unweighted GPA? You are from an underrepresented state, have a challenging courseload, and are in the top 5%, there are schools out there that would LOVE to have you. Working will be seen just as good as an EC on your application, so don't worry about it.

Financial aid is going to be a BIG factor in your search, your EFC is basically 0 and you will likely qualify for a pell grant. Look at schools that will meet 100% of need. I would strongly recommend private schools because the only public I know that meets 100% for all undergraduates is Virginia.

Let me know what that GPA is unweighted (A+,A,A-=4, B+,B,B-=3) and we could let you know your chances for some other schools because I really believe you could get into some of the top med schools in the country in addition to these schools. I would try to get that ACT in the 30s as well for assurance at some of these schools as well as scholarship money.

I would recommend just on first instinct Chicago, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Virginia. All have top Biology and Pre-Med programs and most importantly will guarantee to meet 100% of your need for all 4 years. I think all would be reachable reaches with Virginia being a slight reach, but all attainable. If you got that ACT into the 30s, I think you'd have a shot at any of them.

W&M's premed is good as well, at least it was when I attended.

I agree with A2Wolves6, and also think that you should look at top liberal arts colleges that have a lot of aid to give out. Bates and Vassar come to mind. The state schools outside your own state will probably not give you enough aid. That was a good tip that UVA does give aid to out-of-staters. Ohio Wesleyan, George Washington U, and Boston U give aid. U of Rochester is great for premed and gives a lot of aid to people. I would definitely look there. Also, look at Rice University and Vanderbilt.

3.79 is my unweighted gpa.

i have yet to take any sat ll subject tests, should i? and how critical are they in the admissions decision?

thanks for all the help. it's much appreciated.

That is a very impressive UW GPA. I'd say you are definitely in at all your initial schools. Get those test scores up and you will find yourself with good aid at other schools as well. I see IU giving you a 6-7K scholarship (per year), and all other schools accepting you. Syracuse has some decent grants to give out, however Wisconsin is terrible with FA. You will get a pell grant at each school too. Not too familar with Northeastern or Washington.

SAT II's are only critical if they are required. I know that Wisconsin, Indiana, and Syracuse don't require them, and I got in with a much lower GPA/rank than you without them. However, many top schools do require them.

Look at some rankings of pre med schools/biology schools and find schools that guarantee to meet 100% of need for all undergraduates. Apply to these schools. You need a financial safety as well. I don't see many schools that wouldn't accept you.

Hey...my name is angelica and i just joined. I was reading ur thing and wondered if u ever decided where u wanted to go to college yet? r u in college now? and how old r u?
