Last day to pay deposits for colleges is May 1st, TODAY, right? So I've already chosen what school out of the few I've gotten into, already paid the deposit, etc. But what of the other 6 schools I got into? Am I supposed to withdraw my application today, or just let time take its course until they get I'm not going there?

I know this might seem like a really idiotic question, but I just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing.

It makes things easier for the college if you inform them that you’re not attending, but it’ll just be assumed that you aren’t if you haven’t already submitted a deposit.

Thanks amarkov. I guess the right thing to do is to let them know.

Was the “First Generation Student!” really necessary? Stop showing off your unfair advantage :(

Anyone who’s first generation college has far more disadvantages than advantages because they’ve had to figure out their whole educational process without the help of parents who’ve met those challenges before. It’s silly and petty to envy of people who are first generation college. People like me who were not first generation college should be grateful for the advantages that they have had all of their life.

Very true, as a first generation student I know nothing compared to some of my friends who have had siblings/parents go to college and have experience with the whole process.

I know everything about college that I do because I did the research myself. Nobody at all told me anything about anything when it came to education. My parents never bred me to go to an Ivy like some other parents do. The way my parents have raised me must be ideal because I am now my own parent. Nobody cares about my grades but me. I push myself, I do things for myself, I do all of the research. If I go to a summer program it is because I want to, not because my parents have money to throw around and want to get me out of the house. I have one parent who went to college and she has not a thing to say about college, both of my parents are immigrants.

I totally and completely agree with SheenR. If my parents would of pushed me like most do I’d be on my way to an Ivy. My parents don’t even speak english.

^Agreed. You should only do what you like. My parents aren’t from this country, so although they’ve gone to college, college here is completely different.
