I am in my high school c/o '05 and I did apply for usafa. But I decided to withrdaw my app for personal reasons. But now, I’d like to give it a shot again next year.

I’m waiting for my afrotc scholarship results. I’m hoping to attend a civlian school with afrotc for a year. Redo my apps with usafa and hopefully be admitted as c/o 2010. My question is…should i retake my SATs? My year was the last to work on the 1600 scale. I believe the test is different now? So would I have to take the new test?

Probably should since most or all that you will be compared against will have "new" scores.

Thanks doc. Another question, if you don't mind. Would I still need to secure a congressional nomination? I've heard of nominations that the AFROTC detachment could give..but I'm not sure. Either way, I think my best bet is to contact every nominating source I have right? And is there any special or different application procedures for people who don't go straight out of high school and came from an AFROTC detachment?

Oh. I'm also planning to enlist with the Air Force REserve in my four years at college also. Hopefully this won't complicate anything.

Try every source/method you can. Enlisting probably will complicate things if you're also ROTC--deployment can set your schedule to graduate off by a bit. I'm not sure of AFROTC methods of getting into USAFA. I think you just apply normally. Your ROTC experience will probably be a positive if you're doing well.

March 31st is when I get my scholarship results. As I get there, I'll keep you informed on my status. Thanks for hte help so far!
