The one he feels most comfortable at after those two days…and of course the one best on the pocketbook.
One is not ‘better’. Sorry. And even if so it doesn’t matter. What matters is what is best for the student.
Which loyola? What major?
@Sharenm - I imagine you’ll have some clarity after attending the accepted days. Another suggestion is to lay out the 4 year schedule for each one and see if there are any differences.
Which Loyola?
Maryland
Business at Loyola Maryland
I go back to the one he feels most comfortable (and you can afford). That’s why you go to admitted student day.
Assuming similar price, I would have him spend more than accepted student day there. Can he connect with anyone who is actually attending there now, and go stay for an overnight, go to a class or two, go to any activities that he’s interested in?
Accepted student day might not be enough to make a decision. He could wind up making a decision based upon how entertaining the program is, rather than whether the school is the right place for him.
We weren’t able to do overnights but eating in the dining hall, talking to kids there and on campus is a great thing. They’re typically willing to chat.
If I get a vote…it’s for Loyola Maryland.
I vote for Loyola because I am an alum. My son has toured both and I liked both of them. They are very similar and both have great business programs. If it came down to those two, he’d probably choose St. Joe’s since we live in Baltimore. Even the campuses are remarkably similar.
My kid ended up meeting a bunch of kids from Loyola when he was studying abroad. Said that while it was a school thst hadn’t crossed his radar in high school, based on the students he’d met, it was one he’d recommend be considered.
With that said, a family friend who was quite shy went to St. Joe’s and totally blossomed there, so I suspect it has a nice community. Philly is a good town for college kids too.
