HELP! For short/easy question.

Am I supposed to fill out Fafsa right after I fill out my applcation? Or do i wait for my acceptance/denied letter then fill out.

I was told to fill it out regarless if i knew if i was going to be accepted or not, for my school'(s) I applied for. So this mean when I fill out my fafsa I include every school that I applied to in my fafsa.......?

Thanks any help would be nice.

students are supposed to fill out their FAFSA between January and March (for priority deadlines) on the year before you start college (ie you senior year). When you are completing your FAFSA, you have the option of putting 10 schools you are interested in. It doesn’t matter if you applied or if you get accepted, put all the schools you are interested in. I ended up only sending information to 7. All these schools you list will receive your fafsa info. A bit of advice, fill out your fafsa ASAP! you have better chances of getting money.

All school websites usually have timelines of when you need to submit your FAFSA, CSS (if applicable) and when they need specific forms. But as a general rule, the FAFSA is usually submitted before decisions are announced, especially if you want your Financial Info included. I’m sure someone else will post more detail…

Fafsa for 2012 comes out January 1st (I might be confusing it with Bright Futures?)

All the answers were great, I’m trying to continue my studies for the spring term of 2012 (transfer student).

Great answers aqua and capenn :)

Thank you.

Any other inputs are welcomed :)

Yes absolutely fill it out right away, that way when you are accepted they already have it on file and can begin processing your aid package right away. You don’t need to be accepted before submitting the info, send it to all schools you are applying for.

I’d fill it out on January 1st or 2nd - basically, as soon as possible. Your parents taxes are not going to be ready, but you can use their information from the previous year to estimate, and then you can go back and edit it when they are completed. That’s what I’d recommend doing.

Spring 2012 is part of the 2011-12 fafsa which uses 2010’s taxes… he shouldn’t wait until next year as he will have already started school then.

hsb1104 is correct. If you are transferring to a different school during this upcoming spring semester, then do your fafsa asap now! (unless you already did it).

You are going to need to do another fafsa this upcoming january (the 2012-2013 fafsa). This fafsa will go towards determining your fin. aid for the next school year.

I was referring to the FAFSA for the 2012-2013 school year, I didn’t see that he was talking about spring 2012 - but yes, you need to fill one out NOW for spring 2012 if you don’t already have a FAFSA filed for the 2011-2012 year. But I am sort of confused. Did you already have one filled out for this semester (Fall 2011), for your current school? If so, you don’t need to file a new FAFSA - just go in, and do a correction, and have UF’s school code on there so they receive a copy of your FAFSA. This one is good for the rest of the school year - and I think through the summer of 2012, also.

Also…once you’re admitted, keep checking your aid status. You might have have to send more documents in, or have your fafsa validated, etc. Better to be on top of it so you don’t end up without financial aid when school starts.
