i am helping my friend ask, if she wants to transfer to this college in the fall and she wants to have 24 credits before she applies which is after may, when is the latest deadline for the application? i heard people are applying in the summer also, how does that work?thanks in advance

Great question. I'd advise your friend to apply ASAP, and send her fall grades along with her final high school transcript and test scores (SAT/ACT). If a student has less than 24 credits -- which it sounds like she has right now -- then we'll look back at her high school record in addition to her college coursework.

If her high school coursework and test scores aren't high enough, then we'll need to wait for spring grades... but the problem we're likely to have this fall with transfer students is that we'll probably close applications some time in May, before most students have spring grades. All I can say now is that she'll need to get us her spring grades as soon as she has them, but I can't promise anything right now.

Chris, for transfers with less than 24 credits, is sbu 101 mandatory? can you get away with not taking it in the first semester? Thank you.

No, it's not mandatory for transfers. Recommended, but not mandatory.

It is, however, mandatory for first-year students with no college experience. And if you're in the College of Global Studies, I know a guy who teaches the 101 and he's AWESOME. :D
