HELP!! freaking out. need school suggestions...

i've applied to mostly reach and safety schools, with no good fits that i'm really comfortable with. i just found out that i didn't make the national merit finalist cutoff, which hurt bc i assumed i would make it... now i'm second guessing whether schools will take me.
can anybody suggest where, at this point, i could still apply and/or might enjoy?

heres the breakdown:

applied to: brown (not gonna get in, perfectly ok with that), upenn (REALLY want to go, and i'm legacy, but my dad didn't endow a hospital or anything), wesleyan u, hopkins, oberlin, colorado college (legacy, safety), colo.u-boulder (accepted w/scholarship)

satI: 1560/ satII: 750/750/800
ib diploma program, taken two ib tests, both 6.
gpa weighted: 4.2 but uwgpa: 3.2. this one time i got a D. i know that's what did me in for nmf. (but i thought it was as forgiveable as possible... it was in spanish, and i later got a 750 on the sat spanish and a 6 on my ib test and i went to costa rica for language immersion so i'm obviously both interested in and good at the subject, i just made mistakes.)

ecs: solid-to-pretty cool (awards - tho not like siemens or anything prestigious - for cancer research; president of drama club; piano for 12 years + awards; swim team, etc....)

DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE ELSE I CAN APPLY THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT? i know its like the VERY end of january, but some schools have feb 1 deadlines... my grandma asked me to apply to trinity (in san antonio) and they just take the common app w/ no supplement and no app fee if you do it online, so i'm gonna do that as just another option. where else? ideally, i want to be not in the midwest and i want to be in a city .... i just don't know a lot of schools that i would enjoy that have deadlines in the future.

PLEASE HELP!!
thanks!

You know that most of the deadlines for schools that would be a "good fit" for you have passed...

Northeastern is Feb. 1st, I believe. I can't think of any others.

I don't think you should have a problem getting into Brown. Dartmouth or Berkeley may be good...?

Your interest in a city and today's date do limit your options for additional apps. You might call the admissions office at Trinity (CT) and Reed (both 1/15 deadlines) and see if they would take late apps. Worst case to them they reject you and up their selectivity. <grin> You could approach Macalester the same way, but they are in the (horrors!) Midwest. </grin>

As for a possible match school with a 2/1 deadline, there is Kenyon College, but they aren't in a city. (Of course Oberlin isn't either. . .) Music isn't as at good as Oberlin, but not bad. Excellent humanities and social sciences and very good theatre.

Anyway, I think you should just relax. Some schools on your list may X you off for that D, but several will not. You've got a shot at Brown and Penn, and I'd expect you to be accepted at a minimum of one of your non-safeties. And that's all you need.

PS. I'd skip Trinity (TX). Nice school for some students but based on your other choices not a great match for you.

thanks! i really appreciate it. i think i will call a few schools and see what could be done.
i'm not that region-ist, i've just been in suburban colorado for so long that i want to do something else. i'm just not attracted to the midwest or to rurality (not a word), and i know oberlin defies both of those! i liked it a lot when i visited, tho, so... and, truth be told, i was sick a lot last spring and summer so i was looking for kinda... a comfort school? not the challenge or excitement or intellectual community that i'm realizing i want now. amazing what a couple months can do to perspective.
my grandparents live in san antonio, and i do'nt know a lot about the school. i just read the blurb in fiske, tho, and i think you're right... :) thanks again!
