Let me know if you need any help with respect to college admissions and the like. I'm just trying to return the help that a number of CCers had given me, which helped me get into the college of my dreams. Anyway, I might not reply very soon, so just PM me once. I am in a very very demanding program (Computer Engineering)

Hiii
I wanted to know how I should go about the SOP. I am applying for Architecture to cornell, usc, rice, cmu & umich and for math major to upenn, barnard, princeton, brown (Super long shots)
I am a little confused about how a SOP should be written. I have written my first draft but still not sure how it is perceived by the unis. Please help
Thanks in advance.

It might help if you post your admit Stats, such as SAT/GPA scores/subject SAT, your coursework/school in India, your ECs, whether you were already a US citizen in India or totally international. Also did you get /apply for financial aid? All of this makes a lot of difference and can help kids from India be realistic about their chances.

The cheaper alternative is always to do your undergrad in India and apply for grad schools here.

By the way, congratulations on getting acceptance to CMU.

Haha, Anirudh! CC hi to you
Weird how I logged into CC after ages too! I am so grateful to this place or all the help with everything… It was fantastic!!
Love to return it too. All questions welcome, but oh, Anirudh has a treasure trove of info far better than mine. Lol… :P

Medicine in the US is a post-graduate degree and not a bachelor’s level degree as it is in India. At a minimum, to practice medicine in the US, it will take you at least 9 years–4 years undergrad, 4 years med school and 1-7 years of residency training–in order to be licensed to practice in the US.

Few US medical schools accept international students. Those that do, do not offer financial aid (including any loans) to internationals.

Hey, I suggest posting some general things in this thread itself, i’m sure lots of people have the same questions. I personally want to know about your ECs and school marks - CMU is also on my list. Also, did you apply for FA?

I’m willing to help whenever I’m free, which I am generally not. I occasionally peruse new threads here, and if there’s something that others wouldn’t be able to answer generally, I try and reply.

Also,

1) I am not willing to help/post on aniruddhc 's thread.

2) Please don’t PM me with things that have already been discussed on the threads here or questions that can be answered by other people on the India forum who know what they are talking about. I only wish to reply to things that are not common knowledge.
