Help: Getting a job on campus as an assistant

Ok so I'm interested in possibly getting a job this fall as an assistant somewhere whether it be admissions or library. how ahrd is it and how should i go about it.

I'd also like to get a job in the library or some other academic environment, I'll be a transfer student so I'm not sure exactly how tough it is.

Do you have work study money (often given as an option instead of taking out loans) and if so, the jobs will be listed online and there is a process for getting interviews for the jobs. Jump on it first week of school or....they be gone. I think the bookstore hires by department. The union desk is a good spot to be able to study and work.....not demanding at teh desk.
i think on the library site they list jobs. Remember there are LOTS of librarys on campus from music libraries, ul, ....so each may list their needs open to the public separately. Another option is the desk at dorms, mailroom jobs, gym desk jobs.....just have to hoof it the first week and nail it down....remembering that some jobs are filled by returning students.

i work at davis and i can tell you that you have a decent chance of getting a job if you go within the first week of the semester...maybe consider emailing someone who works there to try to set up an interview now. you can either work in the back (shelving books and arranging by call number) or at the front computers, but returning students get their pick of hours for the front and you probably will have to settle for working in the back for a semester and then trying to move up to the front (that's what i had to do) or else work on weekend nights or really early in the morning

umm work study? Is there a form or something I can fill out for that?

I've emailed quite a number of departments and have gotten responses to come first thing when school starts.

to qualify you have to apply for financial aid. If you applied you can call and discuss that with a counselor in that office. There are great jobs through that program adn you avoid debt. Research jobs, many campus and off campus jobs.

I qualified for aid but I don't have anything on my aid sheet that states anything about work study. Can I still participate?
