I have been contemplating law school for the last two years and I have finally decided to consult my fellow College Confidential counterparts for advice. For starters, I am a sophomore at Georgia Tech majoring in Electrical Engineering with an auspicious GPA of 3.96. I took the LSAT and scored a 170 (this was anomalous for me). I have aspirations of becoming a patent attorney, but upon a brief amount of research- it seems that by attending law school, I would be entering dangerous territory. Despite my resolute interest in patent law, I feel that I could be making a mistake by acquiring an expensive 3-year education that is not worth its weight. I have read that it is only worth attending one of the “elite” T14 schools. What are the job prospects for a graduate of one of these schools? Is it possible to get a full ride? How do I go about being admitted? I feel that my verbal skills would fail me relative to other students- is this an obstacle that hard work can’t conquer? Lastly, it seems that these schools are very number driven, what role do extracurricular activities, work experience, and letters of recommendation play into one’s application? I'd like you to know that I am not inherently intelligent (e.g. 1410/2400 PSAT in HS) by any stretch of the imagination- but, rather, hard working and lucky. This is why the prospect of law school is quite intimidating for me.

Thank you for any advice!
